Henwood Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd was established in 1997 to provide contract services to both private and public enterprises. Early projects were generally flood investigations, civil designs for infill developments or railway yard projects.

In 2000, an office was established in Stones Corner and our first employee, Ms Kathy Makan, came on board. We proud to say she remains with us today. Within months we had grown to 5 people and were out of room. Growth was being driven through word of mouth from happy clients. A move to larger premises in Coorparoo allowed further growth in staff numbers, but it wasn’t long before we were again out of room and needed to lease a further tenancy at the same address. Valuable lessons about rapid growth and quality control were learnt. A focus on the employment of young talented staff and training in our core values was adopted.

Further success and growth followed and in June 2004 we moved to a new and bigger office in Metroplex Ave, Murarrie. From that time we could have grown very quickly, but a strategy of managed growth was adopted to ensure quality of service was maintained. By the end of 2007 we were again out of room with a staff of 20 people. Many of these had been with us from near the beginning and had been supplemented with newer talented people.

The 2008 year was a planning year for the business as the future growth strategy was mapped out. Out of this planning it was decided that we would commence trading as HCE Engineers, as recognition of our three core competencies: hydraulic, civil and environmental engineering and also that the business was so much more than the Principal; Mr Greg Henwood.

HCE Engineers moved into first class office accommodation in the Gateway Office Park on Friday the 13th of March, 2009. It wasn’t a black day, rather a day of celebration. With quality premises and room to grow we expect to continue to expand our current staff of 27 as feedback from our clients remains positive.
